From a DJ’s perspective, here are some useful “What Not to Do” tips for a couple’s first dance:
1. Don’t Forget to Share Your Song Choice Early
Waiting until the last minute to finalize your song can cause unnecessary stress. Make sure to communicate your first dance song with your DJ well in advance.
2. Don’t Choose an Overly Long Song
While you want your moment to last, a dance that’s too long can make guests lose interest. Stick to 2-3 minutes to keep the energy up!
3. Don’t Ignore Dance Floor Placement
Make sure the dance floor is well-lit and centrally located. This way, the photographer can capture every moment, and your guests will have a great view.
4. Don’t Overthink the Routine
You don’t need a professional routine unless that’s your style. Focus on enjoying the moment and let the emotions guide you!
5. Don’t Forget to add some pizzazz
It’s important to add the extra effects to make your first dance even more special. We suggest 2-4 pyros and cloud fog.
6. Don’t Overload the Dance Floor with Guests
While it’s nice to invite parents or the bridal party to join, make sure your first dance feels intimate before opening the floor to everyone else.
7. Don’t Micromanage the DJ on the Day
Trust your DJ with the timing. Micro-managing the song or cues during the event can add unnecessary stress—enjoy your moment instead! We will take care of the rest!
